Airport
Arrival & Welcome
Overseas
students arriving in the UK for the
first time may wish to be met by the
College representative at the airport.
Students wishing to be collected from
the airport must inform the College of
the following at least four weeks before
the arrival date:
From the
airport, students are brought to the
College, except for weekends when they
are taken directly to their lodging. A
fee of £50.00 is charged for this
service.
Accommodation
Advice
The College
can provide assistance, on request, to
help with accommodation
for its students. The college can
reserve accommodation with a host family
within reasonable travelling distance.
The College can
assist in the following:
-
Shared room & shared facilities
(£70/week).
-
Single room with shared
facilities (£130/week).
-
One
bedroom flat (£220/week).
Other
expenses (cleaning charges, utility
bills etc.) approximately £40 - £50/week
may be added to the above rates.
A student may, however, stay with
friends or relatives or rent somewhere
to live. At present the average price
of renting a room in a shared house in
this area is £70 - £80 per week. The
students may also have to pay something
extra towards electricity, gas, phone
bills etc. Most private landlords will
ask for one month rent in advance and
may also ask for a month deposit.
Students will need money to survive on a
daily basis. They will need to have warm
clothing in the winter, buy food and
toiletries, pay for transport, and any
extras. An average guide to living cost
would be a minimum of £40 - £50 weekly.
